Monmouth Beach in Lyme Regis lies to the west of The Cobb. It is a beach mainly made up of sand and pebbles where many fossils can be found.
I’d headed to visit Lyme Regis before dawn to get a sunrise photograph from The Cobb. However, when I arrived a group of other photographers turned up too. Not wanting to get in the way of their shots, I left The Cobb and walked along Monmouth Beach until they were nothing more that small silhouettes on the horizon. It was there that I waited. Soon the sky begin to fill with colour and I got a wonderful series of shots; this one being one of my favourites. I even think that the small congregation on The Cobb I’d been so intent on avoiding adds to the scene.
The only downfall was that I got very wet feet when the incoming tide caught me out, but I guess that was to be expected!
