A bright sunset in Uplyme.

Little House

In Uplyme, on the Dorset-Devon border, there’s a house that sits all alone on a hill. It’s a curious place, but as it’s filled with happiness, it never gets lonely.

Another reason for its contentment is that it’s privy to some beautiful sunsets.

But this time, it wasn’t just the house on the hill that saw a remarkable sunset, because I saw it too. As the day ended, I crept past all the other houses with a camera in my arms, until I was all alone in a great big field.

It was there I saw the wonder of its solitude. And it made me smile.
