‘Tystie’ Painted Stone

With bright scarlet legs and feet and smart black summer plumage (which turns mostly white in the winter) Black Guillemots are charming auks. Unlike many other seabirds, they remain close to their breeding grounds all year round. In Scotland they are, rather delightfully, called ‘Tysties’.
