‘Hazel’ Painted Stone

Hazel catkins are one of the first signs of spring and are a welcome addition to grey, overcast days. Each long, lamb’s tail-like protrusion is made up of over 200 individual male flowers. But it is the smaller, female flowers which I’m always the most excited to see. They are tiny yet vivid explosions of colour, like miniature pink fireworks.

This Hazel branch is being explored by a Lemon Slug, a species only found in ancient woodland.

Dimensions: 9cm x 6cm
