‘Waxwing’ Painted Stone

Every now and then, Britain enjoys a ‘Waxwing Winter’, where thousands of Bohemian Waxwings (Bombycilla garrulus) fly from their breeding grounds in Scandinavia and Russia and overwinter here. The reason they do this, so I’ve read, is that there is a scarcity of suitable food (mainly berries and fruit) in their locality, which forces them further afield.

Dimensions: 10cm x 7.5cm
