‘Gliding Hoopoe’ Painted Stone

This is the time of year to keep a lookout for Hoopoes in the UK. They do sometimes breed here – which is a thrilling thought, because they are indisputably brilliant birds. The colouring, crest, long beak and butterfly-like wings combines to make, I think, one of the world’s top birds.
